Apple Brown Betty

Ingredients

110 gr dry unseasoned bread crumbs
50 gr sugar
75 gr melted butter
6 sized apples
110 gr brown sugar
3 gr cinnamon
3 gr nutmeg
1 lemon
60 gr walnuts

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180ºC . Lightly butter a 1.5-quart baking dish. Combine the bread crumbs with the white sugar and butter. Pat half of the mixture in the bottom of the baking dish. Combine the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice and zest, and walnuts. Spread over the crumbs. Top with the remaining crumbs. Cover and bake for 40 minutes. Then remove the cover, increase the heat to 200ºC , and continue to bake for 10 more minutes. Serve warm with cream, whipped cream, or ice cream.
