Austrian Butter Cookies

Ingredients

130 gr flour
110 gr butter
90 gr nuts
200 gr sugar

Instructions

Sift the flour and sugar together. Add the chopped nuts. Blend in the butter. Stir with a spoon until a soft dough is formed. Chill for 1-2 hours. Roll the dough out on a floured board to 0 cm thickness. Cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter and place rounds on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 (191C) for 7-10 min. Yields about 3 dozen. Can be made into a sandwich cookie. Traditional Austrian manner is to spread thinly with jam, cover with a second cookie, then cover top with chocolate frosting and a pecan or walnut half. CHOCOLATE FROSTING 1 TB butter one third c powdered sugar 1 egg yolk 1 sq unsweetened chocolate, -melted and cooled. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolk and chocolate. Blend well. ----
