Coffee/applesauce Cake

Ingredients

220 gr cake flour
3 gr cinnamon
65 gr shortening
1 egg
5 gr baking soda
200 gr sugar
10 gr instant coffee
1 gr salt
240 ml applesauce

Instructions

----------------------------------FROSTING---------------------------------1 ts Instant coffee granules quarter c Water; hot quarter c Butter 2 c Powdered sugar quarter ts Salt Sift flour with soda and spices and salt. Cream shortening and gradually blend in sugar. Add egg and beat until fluffy. Stir in instant coffee flakes and applesauce. Add flour mixture. Place in 20 cm square pan. Bake in 180ÂșC oven for 25-30 minutes. Frost with the following: Make coffee infusion with 1 tsp instant coffee and quarter cup hot water. Cream butter until soft and smooth, gradually blend in sugar and salt. Slowly work in fresh, cooled coffee infusion (about 3 T.) until mixture is proper consistency for spreading. This makes enough for TWO 20 cm cakes. ----
