Elke Sommer's Christmas Stollen

Ingredients

50 gr sugar
3 gr salt
85 gr butter
30 gr walnuts
170 gr seedless raisins
450 gr all purpose flour
150 gr powdered sugar
60 ml water
180 ml milk
1 egg
32 gr slivered
24 gr glaced lemon peel
24 gr glaced orange peel
6 gr lemon peel
16 ml milk
65 gr flour

1 tbl melted butter

Instructions

into crescent. Press edges firm enough to hold together place on a greased sheet. Brush top with remaining melted butter. Let rise until double, 35-45 minutes. Heat oven to 190ÂșC When loaf has doubled, bake 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and done. Frost, while still warm, with confectioner's sugar and [1 tbl] milk, beaten together until creamy. Let frosting drip down sides of loaf. Decorate with glaced cherries and sliced almonds, if desired. Store in tightly covered container. ----
