Frosted Spice Cookies

Ingredients

230 gr butter softened
200 gr sugar
240 ml molasses
1 egg
240 ml sour milk
750 gr flour
14 gr baking powder
5 gr baking soda
3 gr cinnamon
2 gr ginger
1 gr salt
120 gr walnuts
170 gr golden raisins
150 gr dates
750 gr powdered sugar
80 ml orange juice
28 gr butter melted

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add molasses, egg and milk; mix well. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in walnuts, raisins and dates. Chill for 30 minutes. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to 1 cm thickness. Cut with a 6 cm cutter. Place on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees 12-15 minutes. Cool completely. For frosting, beat all ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Frost cookies.

* To sour milk, add 1 Tablespoon. vinegar to milk and let stand for 5 minutes.

Makes: 5-6 dozen
