Jennie Grossinger's Knishes
Ingredients
325 gr sifted flour
5 gr baking powder
1 gr salt
2 eggs
160 ml salad oil
30 ml water
3 circles
375 degree oven
190 gr onions
190 gr chicken fat
300 gr mashed potatoes
4 egg
3 gr salt
1 gr pepper brown the onions in the fat
180 gr scallions
55 gr butter
250 gr pot cheese
4 gr salt
1 gr pepper
30 ml sour cream scallions are better than onions for this
210 gr meat
60 gr rice
6 gr salt
1 gr salt and pepper
210 gr chicken
110 gr mashed potatoes
1 gr pepper mix all the ingredients until smooth
4 mashed
Instructions
potatoes half cup potato flour 3 eggs 1 teaspoon salt quarter teaspoon pepper Brown the onions in 4 tablespoons chicken fat or butter. Cool. Knead together the remaining fat or butter, the potatoes, potato flour, eggs, salt and pepper. Break off pieces (about 5 cm long) and flatten slightly. Place a teaspoon of browned onions on each and cover by pinching the edges together. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven 25 minutes. Makes about 20.
