Molasses Cookies A.k.a. Ginger Cookies

Ingredients

220 gr brown sugar
190 gr shortening
240 ml molasses
1 egg
5 gr baking soda in
120 ml water
2 gr nutmeg
3 gr cinnamon
5 gr ginger
900 gr unsifted flour
1 gr salt

Instructions

Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, then molasses and beaten egg. Combine baking soda and hot water. Add to the first mixture. Sift together flour, salt, and spices. (May want to sift several times until well blended.) Stir in dry ingredients, and blend thoroughly.

Chill in refrigerator for several hours. Roll out on a well-floured board. (Add more flour if dough is too soft.) Cut into figures. Bake at 180ÂșC or 8-10 minutes.
