Mom's 4-bean Salad

Ingredients

2 packages green beans
1 package wax beans
1 package kidney beans
1 package garbanzos
5 1/4 onions
3 big ones
200 gr sugar
120 ml wine vinegar
120 ml cider vinegar
2 gr tarragon
3 gr basil
3/8 green beans
3/8 wax beans
3/8 kidney

Instructions

Marinade: Of the retained juice, you should have a little more than 2 cups (if not, add water). Add sugar and vinegars. (Can use all wine vinegar instead of half wine and half cider vinegar.) Rub spices in hand to break up; stir into juice. "Taste to make sure both sourer and sweeter than you want the end product." Pour marinade over beans. If uncovered, make additional liquid ( half water to quarter sugar and quarter vinegar). Set for 2 days. Can also add cucumbers, avocado, sweet bell pepper and/or pimento.
