Recipe by: Jo Merrill Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually, creaming until light. Beat in egg. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with the applesauce. (be sure to use thick, unsweetened applesauce) Blend thoroughly. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets about 5 cm apart. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until nicely browned. Remove from pan to cool. Makes about 3 dozen. Jo Merrill ----
