Squash Doughnuts

Ingredients

240 ml milk
1 squash
1 gr salt
1 gr cinnamon
1 gr nutmeg
375 gr flour
250 gr sugar
24 gr shortening
2 eggs
4 gr vanilla
14 gr baking powder

Instructions

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, squash, and flavoring. Sift flour, measure, and sift with salt, baking powder, and spices. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Chill dough. Turn onto lightly floured board. Roll in sheet 1 cm thick. Cut with floured cutter. Fry in deep fat (365 F) until brown. Drain on crumpled absorbent paper. Florence Taft Eaton, Concord, MA. ~
