Cream shortening and brown sugar, add corn syrup and egg. Beat well. Stir in cereal. Add flour, soda and salt. Press half of the dough evenly in bottom of 9x9x2 pan. Spread jam over top of dough. Between wax paper, flatten remaining dough and place ontop of Jam. Bake 190ºC or 20-25 minutes. ----
