Fresh Apple Butter Cake

Ingredients

1 c butter
3 1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
3 c flour
1 1/2 ts baking soda
1/2 ts salt
1 ts cinnamon
1/8 ts nutmeg
2 ts vanilla
3 macintosh apples
2 c walnuts
1/2 c sherry

Instructions

Cream butter and sugar well; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; sift flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg together; gradually add to butter mixture; stir in vanilla; fold in apples and walnuts; pour into a greased 10-inch tube pan and bake in a preheated, 325~ oven for approximately 1 1/2 hours; cool; drizzle sherry glaze over cake and serve. Sherry Glaze. Combine sugar and sherry in a heavy saucepan; cook, stirring constantly, until syrupy, about 2 minutes. Chuck in Pok. ----
