Grandma Burdick's Sour Cream Cookies

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Cream sugar, eggs and shortening. Combine sour cream, baking soda and vanilla; add to creamed mixture. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Drop by heaping tablespoonful onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350�F for 8 to 12 minutes. For variety, add chocolate chips, raisins or nuts to the dough before baking. To make rolled cookies, add 1 cup of flour to the dough, chill, then roll out and cut into shapes.
