Preheat oven to 375�. In a large mixer bowl, beat shortning and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together dry ingredients; gradually blend into shortning mixture. Mix well. Stir in mincemeat. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls, 5 cm apart, onto greased baking sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Garnish with glaze if desired. Makes about 6.5 dozen.
