Ingredients
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1 3/4 cups cornmeal
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup flour sifted
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Sift together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt and sugar; stir in onion. Add milk and egg, mixing only until dry ingredients are moistened. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into hot deep fat (375), frying only a few at a time. Fry until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper towels. Serve hot with fish.
