Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 c quick-cooking rolled oats
- 1 c flour
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1/2 c shortening
- 1/2 c walnuts (chopped)
- 1 ts water
- 1/2 ts vanilla
- 1/2 ts soda
- 1/2 ts salt
Thoroughly cream shortening, sugars and vanilla. Beat in egg, then 1 Tb water. Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture, blending well. Stir in the rolled oats, chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from pan.
