Ingredients
- 525 gr tomatoes up (cut)
- 450 gr navy beans (dried)
- 350 ml lemon-lime soda pop
- 230 ml tomato sauce
- 120 ml molasses
- 120 ml ketchup
- 90 gr onion (chopped)
- 75 gr celery (chopped)
- 75 gr brown sugar packed
- 65 gr green pepper (chopped)
- 60 ml water
- 16 ml prepared mustard
- 16 ml worcester sauce
- 10 ml cider vinegar
- 3 gr salt
- 1 gr pepper
- 6 slices bacon (sliced cut into)
Place the beans in a bowl. Add enough water to cover and soak overnight. The next day, drain the beans. Combine the beans, tomatoes, lemon-lime soda, quarter cup water, bacon, salt and pepper in a 4 litre Dutch oven. Cook, over high heat, until the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour. Stir in the remaining ingredients, cover, and simmer for an additional 1 hour. Pour the hot bean mixture into a 3 litre casserole, cover, and bake in a preheated 120ÂșC . oven for 4 hours. Uncover, and bake an additional 30 minutes or until the beans are tender.
