- 8 tomatoes
- 2 onions
- 2 ribs celery
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 broiler-fryer chicken
- 1/2 okra
- 5 c warm chicken broth
- 1/2 c rice (uncooked)
- 2 tb vegetable shortening
- 2 tb flour
- 1 ts salt
- 1/2 ts pepper
- 1/4 ts thyme
cook about 20 minutes. 6. Stir and cook, covered, 20 minutes longer.
