Ingredients
- 4 bird-shaped cookie cutters
- 1 egg
- 3/8 at a time
- 1/4 thickness
- 325 gr flour
- 230 gr butter
- 200 gr sugar
- 85 gr corn syrup (light)
- 30 ml orange juice
- 10 ml water
- 5 gr almond extract
- 5 gr baking powder
cookies 3 cm apart on lightly greased baking sheet. In a small bowl, stir together corn syrup and water; lightly brush mixture over cookies. Arrange sliced almonds to resemble wing and tail feathers. Bake for 6-9 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Cool 1 minute; transfer to cooling rack. While still warm, brush with corn syrup mixture. Sprinkle with sugar. Makes 4 dozen cookies. ----
