Ingredients
- 5 pita breads (halved)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1/8 savory
- 575 gr beef (ground)
- 60 gr onion (chopped)
- 55 gr cheddar cheese (shredded optional)
- 14 gr brown sugar
- 3 gr seasoned salt
- 3 gr chili powder
- 1 gr cumin (ground)
- 1 gr thyme (dried)
- 1 gr marjoram
- 1 gr oregano
- 1 gr parsley flakes
In a heavy suacepan or Dutch oven, brown beef; drain. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion, garlic, brown sugar and seasonings. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Stir in beans; heat through. Spoon about half cup into each pita half. Top with cheese if desired. Yield 5 servings.
